Internet Dating and You

The advent of the world wide web, or internet as it’s become known, has given us all an extremely easy way to communicate with our fellow human beings, using such portals as email, skpe and social networks such as twitter and Facebook to name but a few.

An area in which this communication has really exploded is in online dating, the figures shown in recent statistics are really quite astounding, more than 20 million people per month are engaging in online dating, Google word search for the word 'dating' alone shows a global monthly average of 13.600.000 searches. Of the people surveyed around 70% said they would use an online singles agency or dating service to find their partners if they were single and looking for a relationship. These statistics show a major change in the way we meet our future life partners.

In days gone by, traditionally, relationships were formed by introduction through family members, friends or perhaps through work or some other social gathering, this way of meeting people was and is quite limiting being that usually the people we met/meet are local to ourselves, the internet allows us to go much farther afield in fact the entire world is within our grasp.

The internet has broadened the ways and the choices in which we can meet people and has widened the net, no pun intended, in our search for our potential partners and in these more enlightened times people of all ages are making use of this very modern tool to search for a mate.

The internet has given us a way to 'armchair shop' for our soulmates by perusing the many and varied sites , viewing the photos and reading the personal profiles, it allows us to interact with one another from a distance, to take as much or as little time as we need to form an opinion about the person to whom we are speaking, to assess likes, dislikes and lifestyle compatibility before we actually meet them face to face.

This is in direct contrast to the traditional way in which we start relationships whereby in most cases we are attracted physically and then proceed to find out if we are compatible.

As noted earlier more than 20 million people a month are using this method, so if you are considering online dating then you will most definitely not be alone!!
